Firefighters were called to the Kinver Lock moorings at around 6.20pm, after the log burner set fire to the boat.

The couple are not thought to have been seriously injured but they were checked over by paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service for smoke inhalation.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service sent a crew from Brewood, while West Midlands Fire Service sent crews from Stourbridge and Brierley Hill stations.

The Canal & River Trust also attended the scene on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal.

Photos from the scene show how the fire destroyed much of the boat, with all but the front of it having collapsed.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to a fire in a boat at the Kinver Lock moorings at around 6.18pm on Saturday."
