It comes after beer was spat at cricketers in a racial attack at Wombourne Pool Bar on July 11.

Now residents are organising a protest to stamp out racism in the village through the protest.

Chelsea Powell, who helped start the protest, said: "The local residents are organising a peaceful anti-racist protest in the village centre.

"Following the racist hate crime that took place on July 11, we wish to peacefully protest against ongoing racism within Wombourne.

"The protest will take place around the village green, with us all standing at a social distance. Please bring banners and placards if you have made them."

People will meet on the library car park at 12.30pm before taking their positions around the green. At 3pm the protest will end with a supportive drink at the pool bar.

Police have also been informed of the ENOUGH – Peaceful Protest Against Racism in Wombourne event.

Anyone with information about the attack is urged to contact Staffordshire Police on 101 or via social media, referring to incident 741 of July 14.
