Staffordshire housing plans are deferred
Decisions on two South Staffordshire housing plans have been delayed by district councillors.
South Staffordshire Council’s planning committee was due to decide whether or not to grant approval for 73 new homes on land at Engleton Lane, Brewood, and a new residential apartment block on the site of a former social club off Kinver High Street on Tuesday.
But instead councillors agreed to defer both applications to a later date.
Tuesday’s planning committee meeting was told Lovell Homes, which is seeking permission for the Brewood housing development, had asked for a deferral to allow for further construction arrangements to be explored. The request followed a visit to the site by the committee on Monday.
The plans include 30 affordable homes – 15 for shared ownership and 15 for rent – as well as bungalows. They have been recommended for approval by council planning officers.
Concerns
But there have been seven objections to the application, with concerns raised including construction traffic using Engleton Lane and lack of sufficient parking spaces.

Ward councillor Lin Hingley spoke of parking issues. She said: “They cannot park on the community centre car park because there are barriers there. I’m concerned if they start parking opposite there it’s going to be quite hellish.
“I know the parish council is against it. It is a conservation area. The other thing is flooding – I have real concerns about that.”
Councillor Brian Cox proposed that the application be deferred to allow further investigations to take place.
