Stephen Morgan, aged 18, of Clee Road in Dudley, has been charged with robbery, two counts of affray, four counts of fraud by false representation, driving without insurance, driving whilst disqualified and making off without making payment.

It comes after a violent car-jacking took place on Dimmingsdale Road, near Lower Penn, around 1,30pm on January 29.

Inspector Richard Meaden, the local policing team commander for South Staffordshire, said: “Fortunately these type of offences are a rare occurrence in South Staffordshire. As a force we are pulling together to make every effort to catch offenders.

“I would like to thank our local community for their support so far, and appeal for anyone with any information that could help to identify a second man involved to get in touch by calling 101, quoting incident 399 of 29 January.”

The force say Morgan has been remanded in custody.
