The £500,000 refurbishment work at Rugeley Leisure Centre is set to begin in early November.

The investment will see the gym transformed with new state-of-the-art equipment installed at the leisure centre, off Burnthill Lane.

The development comes just months after Chase Leisure Centre's redevelopment and will feature new Technogym kit including rower machines, bikes, treadmills and stair climbers. A new Tanita machine will also be installed to give members fast, accurate body composition results.

Pete Burt, managing director of Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles – who manage the centre on behalf of Cannock Chase Council – said: "We are always looking to develop our leisure centres and provide the best equipment for our local communities.

“This latest development sees first-class leisure and fitness facilities for Rugeley Leisure Centre and furthers our ambitions to serve our customers, and create leisure environments that help them live happy and healthy lives.”

Councillor Christine Mitchell, Cannock Chase Council's portfolio leader for culture and sport, added: "We are excited to develop another state-of-the-art facility here in Cannock, following the completion of Chase Leisure Centre’s development.

"It is wonderful to be able to deliver further innovative, creative fitness and wellbeing technologies to all corners of our district.”

The investment comes from Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles and is set to be completed by January. While the works are ongoing, a temporary gym will be set up in Rugeley Leisure Centre's sports hall to minimise disruption to members.

Earlier this year, Rugeley Leisure Centre celebrate a hat-trick of accreditations – having received Excellent in Quest UK Quality Scheme for Sport and Liesure, IFI (Inclusive Fitness Initiative) Mark and Swim England Learn to Swim Provider Accreditation.
