Woman, 26, dies after lorry crash in Staffordshire

A woman has died after her car crashed with a lorry between Stafford and Rugeley.

The woman's black Audi A3 was involved in a collision with a white Scania Tanker truck in Tolldish Lane near to the A51 junction, in Great Haywood, at 8.50pm on Monday.

The 26-year-old from Market Drayton was trapped in the wreckage and needed specialist treatment at the scene while fire crews worked to release her.

She was rushed to Royal Stoke University Hospital where she sadly died as a result of her injuries.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "The woman's family have been informed and are receiving the appropriate care and support from specially trained officers at this difficult time. Formal identification has not yet taken place."

The force is appealing for witness to the fatal crash, with anyone with any information asked to call 101 quoting incident 803 of November 13.
