Man left with broken cheek after unprovoked attack at Rugeley train station
A man was left with a broken cheek after being set upon by six men at Rugeley Town train station.
The 24-year-old was waiting on the station platform to catch a train when two men approached the victim and started assaulting him. Four other men then joined in and assaulted the victim further, British Transport Police (BTP) say.
Two of the suspects are described as black men in their twenties, who were wearing black tracksuits with hoods and had on black air max trainers. The other four were white men in their early twenties. One was wearing a dark blue hooded top, another had on a white baseball cap with the words ‘Stussy’ on.
The assault happened around 3pm on Sunday September 17.
Anyone who knows someone matching that description, who may have been in the Rugeley area at the time of the incident, is encouraged to contact BTP.
Likewise, officers are hoping to speak with anyone who might have witnessed the assault and can help piece together what happened.
PC Stuart Williamson, said: “This was a violent and seemingly unprovoked assault and we are urgently making enquiries to establish what happened. The victim had a possible fractured right cheek as a result of this assault as well as bruising around the eye and cheek area.
“Violence will never be tolerated and we are working to identify those responsible for this nasty assault.
“The victim remembers seeing other members of the public around the station at the time of the assault. Therefore I would like to hear from anyone who was at the station at the time of the assault and saw what happened.”
