Essential repairs have been carried out on Friary Grange Leisure Centre's swimming pool, changing rooms, gym, squash courts, rowing room and spin room areas in Lichfield.

Completion of the work marks the end of the first phase in Lichfield District Council’s investment in repairs for Friary Grange Leisure Centre.

Funding was allocated by the council in 2019 as part of a pledge to keep the centre open and provide investment in future leisure facilities in Lichfield. It means that all areas operated as part of Friary Grange Leisure Centre by Freedom Leisure will be available for use as and when the lifting of national Covid restrictions allows.

Councillor Richard Cox, cabinet member responsible for leisure, said: “I am really pleased that the repair programme has been completed on schedule and within our allocated budget, despite the work having to be carried out through two periods of national lockdown and Covid restrictions.

“While much of the repair work needed has been away from public facing areas, I’m confident that when it re-opens, visitors to Friary Grange will notice the difference from the re-decoration of reception, changing room and gym areas, and will be glad to be able to make use of the facilities again."
