Paramedics were called to Birmingham Road just before midday today.

They treated a man for minor injuries after the lorry hit a bridge.

Jamie Arrowsmith, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We've treated one patient, a man, for minor injuries and he's been discharged at the scene."

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Tamworth and Lichfield stations attended.

Staffs Police Road Policing Unit tweeted saying: "We are in attendance with @OFFICIALWMAS and @StaffsFire at an RTC on the A5127 Birmingham Road Wall Island towards Lichfield, where a HGV has struck the railway bridge.. Long delays while recovery takes place, please RT and avoid the area."
