Two new speed indication devices for Hednesford
Two new speed indication devices have been placed on roads in a town to slow drivers down.
The new devices are on Limepit Lane and Pye Green Road in Hednesford and have been bought by the town council through a grant from the Safer Roads Partnership.
Councillor Emma Hunneyball, principal speaker for new estates, said this is just the start of action that will be taken to combat speeding motorists.
The Limepit Lane camera comes directly after a national speed limit stretch of road that links Huntington to Hednesford. The town council along with local residents and activists are currently campaigning to get this speed limit reduced to 40mph.
Councillor Hunneyball said: "We've got two roads where people aren't paying attention to the speeds when they come in.
"The hope is that it will display if people are going too fast and it will make people slow down.
"Once lockdown has been relaxed we're going out on community speed watch too.
"Local residents have brought it to the attention of the council and now they're really pleased to see positive action."
