The mother of Kerry Cast has made a heartfelt appeal for information over her death after her daughter was found dead in unexplained circumstances at her home.

Mrs Cast, a former Cannock Chase High School pupil, was last seen by mother Kathy Weaver three days before she was discovered dead.

She lived at her home alone in Hednesford – and was only found after two neighbours alerted officers concerned about her apparent absence.

A post mortem examination proved inconclusive and further tests are being carried out in due course to ascertain the cause of death.

But while the wait goes on, Mrs Cast’s family have launched a public appeal, led by her mother Mrs Weaver, 64, from Cannock.

She said: “It is heartbreaking for us. We love Kerry so much and we miss her and you try to deal with her loss, but at the same time you want answers.

“Any information, no matter how small it maybe to someone, it might be important.”

Mrs Cast grew up in Cannock, left school and went to work for engineering firm Turner Evans in the town.

She married John Cast and the couple lived in Burton. But when Mr Cast was diagnosed with motor neuron disease the family moved to West Sussex.

The pair had two children, now aged eight and nine. They both live with Mrs Weaver.

After Mr Cast died, Mrs Cast moved to Hednesford three months ago. She was set to go on holiday with the family to Spain in August. The trip has now been cancelled.

Mrs Weaver said: “The last time I saw her was on June 28, I went to her home just to say hello. I wasn’t concerned about her, she was okay.

“Then on July 1, I received the call from the police. I was absolutely shocked, very saddened and devastated.”

She added: “She had close friends in the area. She was a private person. I don’t think she would take her own life. I don’t believe it.” Last week, Staffordshire Police released CCTV in a bid to trace three potential witnesses to Mrs Cast’s death.

Detective Inspector Dan Ison, of Staffordshire Police, said: “They are not suspects but could be witnesses and therefore we are keen to speak with them. Additionally, we want to speak to any person who had cause to drive, or was a passenger, in any vehicle in Herondale or Swallowfields, Cannock, including taxi/delivery drivers, between 11pm on Tuesday, June 27 and 5am on Wednesday, June 28 to come forward and contact us for the same reasons.”

Mrs Cast was found on July 1.

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting incident 481 of 1 July, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
