Police seize £200k cannabis haul in Hednesford
Cannabis worth up to £200,000 was discovered after police raided a home in Cannock Chase.
Officers descended on an address in St. Andrew Close, Hednesford on Thursday afternoon to execute a drugs warrant after intelligence was received from members of the public.
A total of 76 plants, worth an estimated £2,000 each, were discovered in the private three-bedroom house where almost all of the second floor was dedicated to the production of cannabis.
No arrests were made and the investigation is ongoing.
A spokesman from Cannock Chase neighbourhood policing team said: "After intel from the public we knocked on and there was no reply. We obtained a warrant and took the door off.
"Inside we found pretty much the entire upstairs was devoted to cannabis production.
"There were 76 mature plants. Officers said they were looking at nearly £200,000 worth of cannabis.
"We obviously closed it down and the investigation is ongoing to identify who was renting the property.
"We believe the owners are abroad. We are still looking for information.
"It was a private house, three bedrooms, a very nice property."
Superintendent Elliot Sharrard-Williams paid tribute to Cannock Chase's neighbourhood policing team on social media for the positive result.
He posted a picture on Twitter which shows what appeared to be a sophisticated cannabis cultivation setup.
The Tweet said: "Great work by @CannockPolice drugs with street value of £100,000 recovered during execution of a warrant in Hednesford."
