A fundraiser set up for a couple from Cannock after their house was set on fire in a lightning storm has now reached its target.

The lightning struck the house, setting it alight

Stacey Brock, aged 30, and her partner Dean are welcoming their first child in just a few weeks, but the fire destroyed a large amount of their home including the baby's new nursery.

The couple were not injured in the incident but lost a large number of personal items.

Friends rallied round in a show of support, and an online fundraiser set up last week for them has since raised thousands of pounds in just a few days.

It has now hit its target of £7,000 for the parents-to-be.

Stacey and Dean have said they are "touched" by the generosity shown.
