GALLERY: New drone shots show Cannock outlet village taking shape
These new aerial shots show the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in Cannock rapidly taking shape.
Construction of the £160 million shopping centre has been ongoing since July last year and is due to finish next year before the complex opens in the autumn of 2020.
About 1,000 jobs are expected to be created at the shopping village, which will feature around 80 brands, restaurants, cafes, and 1,400 car parking spaces.
The aerial shots, taken by Stuart Gunn from Staffordshire birdseye view photography, show the development progressing quickly on the Mill Green site.
Many locals are looking forward to the retail park opening, however the development has caused a year's worth of disruption with several roads shut during construction.
McArthurGlen has also been criticised for naming the shopping park McArthurGlen Designer Outlet West Midlands - and not mentioning Cannock Chase.
The completed outlet will include a square with a coffee kiosk, “dancing fountain” and art, where events will be held throughout the year.
There will also be a children’s play area near the square, to back onto the nature reserve.
The project will also see £1.5 million invested into various projects in the area including the ongoing maintenance of the Mill Green Nature Park, improvements to Cannock town centre and the railway station, and support for developing skills and employment prospects for local people.
George Adamson, the leader of Cannock Chase District Council, has labelled the development “the best thing to happen to Cannock in decades”.
