Finer details on plans for more than 100 homes in Cannock approved
The finer details on plans for a development of more than 100 homes in Cannock have been given the green light.
Cannock Chase Council has granted permission for the reserved matters for 116 homes at the former Parker Hannifin Plc, in Walkmill Lane.
The houses will be built by developer Galliford Try on land in the same area of Cannock as a 111-home development which the construction giant built before concerns were raised about their proximity to a toxic waste site, Axil Integrated Services.
Almost 50 of the houses were left empty over the concerns, but councillors have now decided to fill them with families after carrying out safety measures.
The council and Galliford Try have said no objections were submitted over the more recent plan, and the developer said it is further away from Axil.
A spokesman for Cannock Chase Council said: “The council approved a reserved matters application for the layout, external appearance, scale and landscaping of 116 dwellings on 24 June following the granting of outline planning permission at the former Parker Hannifin site on Walkmill Lane in May 2018.
"No objections were received in respect to either the outline or the reserved matters applications, either from the local community or from statutory consultees.” A spokeswoman for Galliford Try said: "The principle of new homes on this site was established back in December 2017 when the Homes & Communities Agency (now Homes England) applied for, and was granted, outline planning consent.
"This latest reserved matters permission submitted by Galliford Try Partnerships means that we can now start on site and deliver these much-needed homes for local people. There were no objections to our reserved matters.
"We are not aware of any issues with this site or involving Axil as it is further away from their facility."
