Cannock singer Georgia Bray sails through to next round of ITV's The Voice
Cannock's singing superstar Georgia Bray has sailed through to the next stages of ITV's The Voice.
The 21-year-old was put through to the knockout stages by her mentor Olly Murs on Saturday night's show after a battle with trio The Flat Pack.
Murs had paired Georgia with the trio for the battle round with them singing Ray Charles' 'Hit The Road Jack'. It was a song Georgia admitted she hadn't sung before, but she would 'rise to the challenge'.
But after the powerful performance, Olly chose Georgia to take through to the next round of the popular singing competition.
After learning she had sailed through to the next round, Georgia, from Calf Heath, said: "I am so, so happy at the moment.
"I am through to the knockout rounds – it's just crazy. Just wow."
The former Birmingham Ormiston Academy musical theatre student said that she would rise to any challenge Olly gives her in the competition.
Taking to social media after the episode aired, she said: "I'm through to the knockouts. Thank you so much to my amazing coach Olly Murs for believing in me and taking me through to the next stage.
"I am so grateful and I will keep on fighting till the end because being a part of this show means the world to me.
"The Flat Pack put up an amazing fight and I couldn't have asked for a better trio to be paired up with. You guys have been so supportive and we have had so much fun together preparing for the battle. I am so sad to see you guys leave, you are truly amazing."
During the show, Olly had said how during Georgia's audition he believed she was actually two singers, because her voice 'is so unique'.
Fellow judge Will.i.am said that Georgia really held her own against the trio.
Speaking to the Express & Star before the episode aired, Georgia said: "I want to do everyone proud. I want to do as well as I can do, I am in it now. I am fully focused on the competition.
"This is the biggest opportunity that has come my way."
Georgia will now take part in the knockout rounds in the coming weeks, and if she is successful she will go on to the live shows. The winner of The Voice 2019 will get to release their debut single, alongside a record deal with Polydor Records.
The Voice UK continues Saturdays at 8pm on ITV.
