Woman, 79, arrested on suspicion of murder after man's body found
A pensioner has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead in a cul-de-sac.
The 79-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday after an 82-year-old man, named locally as Dennis, was found dead in Raven Close, Huntington.
The woman has since been released as police continue to investigate the circumstances around the death in the village near Cannock.
Forensics have been on the scene examining the house and police have been stationed outside this week.
Neighbours have spoken of their shock after the death of 'Dennis', who is believed to be a father.
Stuart Parker, aged 58 who lives in Raven Close, said: "It is shocking, this doesn't happen around here.
"I probably spoke to him once. He was a lovely guy. He used to like mowing his lawn. I think his name was Dennis."
Fellow neighbour Suzie Templeman, 44, added: "This is shocking news. It is a nice leafy neighbourhood and for this to happen, it is shocking.
"We never really saw Dennis much. I think he had a son."
A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "Following the death of an 82-year-old man from Cannock on Tuesday, we arrested a 79-year-old woman from Cannock on suspicion of murder on Wednesday.
"The woman has since been released under investigation as we investigate the circumstances of the man’s death further.
"Specially trained officers are providing advice and support to the family at this difficult time."
