Lorry crashes into railway bridge in Bridgtown
A lorry tipped on to its side after crashing into a railway bridge causing disruption for motorists and train services in the area.
Emergency services were called around 3.30pm today to the A34 Walsall Road in Bridgtown, Cannock Chase near the Renault garage.
A fire crew from Cannock attended and had to help the man out of the lorry. While an ambulance and paramedic was also dispatched although West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed the man only had minor injuries.
Police closed the road which feeds on to the busy roundabout linking the A5 and the A460.
Network Rail also stated trains had to be slowed down to 5mph while they crossed over the bridge so an examiner could assess if any structural work needed to be carried out.
However the authority confirmed it was given the all-clear shortly afterwards and the speed on the Chase Line was restored.
The incident is still ongoing.
Burntwood and Chase Community First Responders posted a picture of the scene on their Twitter feed which said: "A34 Bridgtown will be closed for sometime due to an overturned lorry."
