Miranda Dickinson came to the museum on Friday as part of the latest meet the author event.

Lee Bellingham, manager at the library, said the event was sold out.

She said: "Miranda was the latest in the series of meet the author events which we've been doing for two years.

"People can book and come and have a cup of tea and cake and the author will answer their questions and talk about the book and their writing.

"Miranda is a very interesting person to listen to because she's also a singer and she does writing workshops so she was talking about that.

"People all had their photo taken and had their booked signed, they really enjoyed it.

"It was a sold-out event, we had 25 people there.

"It leads up to our Chase Bookfest on September 26."

Born in Wolverhampton, Miranda grew up in Kingswinford and dreamed of one day writing a book that would reach Kingswinford Library.

Her first novel, Fairytale of New York (2009) was discovered on Authonomy.com - HarperCollins' site for unpublished authors.

Within three weeks of its release, Fairytale of New York had entered the Sunday Times Top Ten Bestsellers List, where it remained for five weeks.
