Family pay tribute to 'beautiful boy' who died in Burntwood crash
“He was the most gracious, loving, beautiful boy that you could ever meet. We called him our gift from God.”
These were the heartbreaking words from the mother of 21-year-old Harry Jenks, from Burntwood, who died in a car crash on Monday.
Dawn Jenks was in tears as she spoke about her ‘kind, affectionate, and thoughtful’ son - who never had a bad word to say about anybody.
“He was a beautiful boy,” she said. “He lived for life. Everyone loved Harry and he loved life. He was just so kind.
“We always called him our gift from God. I was going to have twins but lost one at 15 weeks and the doctors all called Harry a gift from God.
“We never had a cross word to say about him. He couldn’t leave the house if he thought he had upset anyone. He would kiss us and tell us he loved us all the time.”
A keen footballer, Harry played at one point for Hednesford Town - and regularly took part in casual Sunday five-a-side matches.
He was in his third year at Aston University studying business management, undergoing a placement year working as a team manager at Co-op in Stafford. He would then have gone back to university for his fourth and final year.
His mother said he had big plans to travel to America, with the possibility of working in the car industry.
“He was so kind, so affectionate and so thoughtful,” she added. “He was just a respectful young lad with nothing negative to say about anyone. He was a gift from God and God has taken him too soon. That’s what’s so heartbreaking.”
Harry lived in Burntwood most of his life with mother Dawn and his father Nigel. He also had two older siblings, Spencer, age 29, and 26-year-old Lydia.
Harry was killed after a Seat Ibiza he was a passenger in crashed in Coleshill Road near Atherstone Golf Club at about 1.45am on Monday.
Two women, the driver and another passenger, were taken to hospital to be treated, but Harry was declared dead at the scene.
The women have since been discharged from hospital.
Floral tributes were left at the area in Harry’s memory.
A Go Fund Me page set up by Harry’s friends to help his family with funeral costs has raised nearly £3,500 in just two days.
Police are still appealing for witnesses and urge anyone who witnessed the collision or who was travelling in the area at the time to contact officers as soon as possible.
Anyone with information that could help police with their enquiries should call police on the 101 number quoting incident number 13 of March 25.
