Staffordshire police intercepted vehicle on M6 after 'gun report' that turned out to be hoax

Staffordshire Police intercepted a vehicle travelling on the M6 after reports of a gun inside - but the call turned out to be a hoax.

West Mercia Police reportedly received a that the vehicle which was on the move in Staffordshire "may contain a gun". 

The force passed the report onto local officers from Staffordshire Police, who managed to intercept the vehicle between J15 to J16. 

However, the driver had allegedly made a false report about themselves and was dealt with for 'wasting police time.'

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, StaffsRCT wrote: "M6 J15 to J16 we intercepted a vehicle which West Merica police had receive a report may contain a gun. 

"Further checks into the driver revealed they had made a hoax call about the gun in their own car. Driver reported for summons for wasting police time. ."
