The warning came after police attended the scene of a crash in the early hours of this morning (November 28) where a broken down car had been left mangled after another driver collided with it while it was pulled over.
Staffordshire RTC Team 1 shared an image of the car, which had been completely mangled by the impact and expressed how lucky it was that the driver had gotten out of the vehicle while waiting for breakdown assistance.
In a post on X,, the police wrote: "This is a prime example why you do not sit within your vehicle if you break down on the motorway.
"Tonight we have attended an RTC on the M6 whereby there were no injuries. Should the occupants have been sitting within the vehicle it would have been a very different story."
