Six months of roadworks have begun to create access to new Fradley development
Motorists face six months of traffic misery as a new access road and junction for a new housing development in Fradley, Staffordshire.

Staffordshire County Council’s highways teams on behalf of the developer begun the work on Monday which will see changes to Gorse Lane leading to the development.
Gorse Lane will be widened along with the relocation of the existing road to the hangar site. Drainage, kerbing and footpaths, along with new streetlights and signs, will also be installed at the site.
A new combined footpath and cycleway is also being built on Gorse Lane, which will help to encourage more active travel and make it safer for cyclists and pedestrians.
The improvements are expected to take around 26 weeks to complete and will include a mix of temporary lane closures and some full road closures, to make sure the work can be carried out safely. A diversion will be in place via Wood End Lane and Hay End Lane and access to properties in the work area will be maintained where possible.
David Williams, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at Staffordshire County Council said: “This is an important part of the new housing development and will make sure people can get on and off the development easily and safely.
“The new cycleway and improved footpath will also make it safer for cyclists and pedestrians too and will hopefully encourage more people to consider more active and greener travel.
“Our highways teams will be doing their upmost to make sure the work is done as efficiently as possible, and I would like to thank people in advance for their patience and co-operation.”
