Man rescued from flat fire near Cannock
A man was rescued by fire crews and neighbours before being treated by paramedics after a flat fire in Staffordshire.
Emergency services were called to a flat off Stafford Road, in Huntington, near Cannock, at around 12.20am this morning.
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service crews tackled the fire, which started in the kitchen of the property.
The man was helped to safety by firefighters and neighbours. He was assessed by paramedics at the scene and discharged.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a flat fire at Naden House in Stafford Road, Huntington at just before 12.20am this morning [Monday].
"An ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Hazardous Area Response Team attended the scene. On arrival, there was only one patient who had initially been helped from the property by neighbours.
"He was given a full assessment, but due to only having been in the property for a very short time once the fire had started had no lasting effects.
"Ambulance staff arranged an alternative location for him to stay overnight and he was discharged at the scene."
On Twitter, a Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman added: "Firefighters from Cannock have rescued one man from a flat fire on Stafford Road in Huntington. The fire was in the kitchen of the property, crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to extinguish the fire.
"West Midlands Ambulance Service have attended the incident."
