Specialist Staffordshire Police search dog dies

Hundreds of people have reacted to the news that a retired police dog has died.

Staffordshire Police's PD George, who was a specialist search dog, died yesterday after a short illness.

PD George once appeared on the force's Christmas card.

Staffordshire Police posted on social media saying: "We have some sad news to share with you about one our loyal police dogs.

"Retired police dog, PD George sadly passed away yesterday after a short illness. George joined Staffordshire Police when we was two-years-old and over the years served as a specialist search dog, and even once graced our force Christmas card!

"George retired when he was 10 and spent his final years happily in the family home with his handler, Pc Karen Bloor and his four-legged colleagues, PD Emma, PD Tizzie and PD Kaylaigh."

Hundreds of people have commented on the post on Facebook, with more than 1,800 sharing it within an hour of is being posted.
