Investigation after man dies in Tamworth

Police have launched an investigation after the death of a man in Tamworth.

Staffordshire Police were called by West Midlands Ambulance Service to a property in Coleridge Close shortly after 7.20am on Thursday.

A man in his 40s was confirmed dead at the property.

A 41-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman – both from Tamworth – have been arrested and are helping police with enquiries. They remained in police custody on Thursday afternoon.

Staffordshire Police officers remained in the area and are carrying out door-to-door enquiries.

A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a medical emergency at a property on Coleridge Close at 7.18am on Thursday morning. One ambulance attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man. Sadly it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
