Firefighters tackled a blaze involving 80 tons of hay near Uttoxeter.

Five fire engines were sent to the fire in a farm building on Main Road in Hollington.

Graham Mills, head of emergency response at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “Thanks to quick intervention and extremely good work from firefighters to isolate the building and creating a fire break, the outbuilding was protected.”

The fire crews, including 23 firefighters, were sent from from Uttoxeter, Cheadle, Ipstones and Longton.

The fire was reported at 3.40am this morning.
