Fire crews from Cheadle, Longton and Stafford were called to Bramshall Industrial Estate, in Staffordshire.

The fire broke out in a large metal container at Pym and Wildsmith, Uttoxeter, at 10am today (FRI).

Specialist detection, identification and monitoring officers also attended and assessed the scene.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and Hazmut suits isolated the tank involved and carried out a controlled burn.

Crews then liaised with onsite specialists and agreed to evacuate the surrounding area and businesses.

The cordon has since been lifted and fire crews have been stood down.

Specialists and engineers remain onsite and are dealing with the clear up.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service tweeted from the scene: "Fire crews from Cheadle, Longton and Stafford have been dealing with a fire at Bramshall Industrial Estate.

"It's being treated as a chemical incident so a cordon's been put in place with surrounding buildings and area evacuated."
