The county council has worked with D&G Buses to introduce the new service, which started on Monday.

An improved 841 service will now run every half-hour to St Mary’s Gate off Tixall Road in Stafford.

Every hour the service will extend to Uttoxeter via Weston and Hixon.

Passengers on the new buses will be able to use contactless payment. A significant amount of funding for the subsidy has come from the St Mary’s Gate developer.

D&G operations director Kevin Crawford said: "We are very excited to continue to work with Staffordshire County Council and introduce the new 841 service, continuing to link Uttoxeter and Stafford.

"This new service has seen an upgrade in the bus allocation, resulting in leather seats, wood effect flooring and eye-catching new route branding."

Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for highways and transport Helen Fisher said: “As our towns grow it is important that there are services in place where there is new development. We are pleased to have been able to support D&G with this service through developer funding which is good news for the wider taxpayer.

“It means one of the newest areas of Stafford will have a regular bus service and there will be a significant improvement for passengers travelling to and from Uttoxeter, Weston and Hixon.

“People will be able to use contactless payment for ease and convenience and we hope as many people as possible use the service so it can be maintained in the future.”
