Three people rushed to hospital, two with 'serious injuries', after crash on A442 near Bridgnorth

Two people have been rushed to hospital with "serious injuries" after a crash on a major A-road near Bridgnorth.

The crash saw that saw the the A442 near Quatford, Bridgnorth was closed just after 2pm on Tuesday.

The incident involving two cars saw three people cut free from their vehicles.

A spokesperson for the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said four fire engines were sent to the scene, with crews using cutters to free three casualties.

“Three persons were released from vehicles and now in care of West Midlands Ambulance,” the spokesperson added.

The West Midlands Ambulance Service said two people had been taken to hospital with "serious injuries" following the crash.

A spokesperson said: "We were called at 1.57pm to a road traffic collision involving two cars at the junction of Chapel Lane and the A442 in Bridgnorth, Quatford.

"Two ambulances attended the scene. Upon arrival we found three patients. Firstly, a woman who was a passenger in the first car, she was assessed and had sustained potentially serious injuries. She received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.

"A man who was the driver of the second car was assessed and had sustained potentially serious injuries. He received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

"A man who was the driver of the first car was assessed and had sustained injuries not believed to be serious. He received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to Princess Royal Hospital.”

West Mercia Police reopened the road at around 5pm on Tuesday.
