Ashmore Properties will set up the five small units at Tasker Street Business Park using the entrance off Whitehall Road to serve it, after Sandwell Council planners granted approval to the scheme.

In the application, they said the land is used as ‘ad-hoc’ storage but has been left unkempt and experienced issues with anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping.

The application said: “The site has been vacant for a considerable amount of time and is unkempt and an overgrown car park. It is misused with fly-tipping and a congregational area for anti-social behaviour.

“Originally as an overspill car parking section to a recycling centre, the area is unsightly and eyesore for residential occupiers and attracting dubious uses and users.

Improve

“Ashmore Properties Ltd wishes to improve and extend the existing site facilities, continuing to this residual land to the south side of the site providing additional dedicated storage in an upgraded, discreet and secure manner.

“This will present a considerably improved and modern approach and significant enhancement of the street scene.

“The proposed new development will be a welcome addition of dedicated storage on a residual and problematic site area, and will augment activities.

“This section of land for the proposed development has been unsightly and unkempt for many years and symptomatic of the change in use of the overall site.

“The proposals embody a new approach and a significant opportunity to improve the overall standing of the site and its appearance.

“The development will improve external storage and remove abandoned clutter, unsightly appearance and anti-social usage.”
