Garden waste collections to take longer, Sandwell householders told

Residents in Sandwell are being reminded that the borough's green bin collections may take longer than usual due to higher levels of garden waste.

Crews are working hard to empty green bins on people's usual collection day, or as soon as possible afterwards.

Sandwell Council and its environmental services partner Serco are putting in plans for catch-up collections on Saturdays if necessary.

Councillor Maria Crompton, Sandwell Council's deputy leader, said: "The crews are doing an amazing job and it's fantastic that our fortnightly garden waste collections have started again, while also keeping up weekly household waste and recycling collections.

"Inevitably, there is a lot of garden waste to collect given the circumstances, with more green bins being put out than usual. So, there may be some delays for some households.

"If the garden waste bins in your road aren't collected on your scheduled day, please leave them out until they are emptied. Our crews will get to you as soon as they possibly can."
