Man released amid investigation into five-car West Bromwich crash
A man has been released from custody after a five-car crash in West Bromwich.
Four women were injured in the crash on Newton Road on Monday, when the busy route was shut off for more than a hour.
A woman, believed to be in her 20s, was cut out of her car by firefighters after the crash, which happened at around 10.20am.
The ages of the other three woman are believed to be in their 30s, 50s and 70s.
All four of the victims were taken to Sandwell Hospital after the incident but none of them are believed to have suffered serious injuries.
West Midlands Police have now confirmed that a 47-year-old man, who was arrested at the time on suspicion of dangerous driving, has been released 'pending further investigation'.
The five-car pile-up caused severe delays on the Newton Road throughout the morning after the crash.
A number of emergency services personnel attended the scene, including three ambulances, a paramedic officer, two fire engines and two 4X4 brigade response vehicles - with a total of 12 firefighters.
