The Premier Inn hotel would be built next to New Square Shopping Centre in Congregation Way.

The building will provide for 84 bedrooms, with a Brewers Fayre restaurant on the ground floor. The hotel will operate on a 24-hour basis. Developers say it will be a ‘prominent leisure offer’ and ‘economic driver’ for the area.

In a Design and Access statement it reads: “The design of the proposed building seeks to reflect a contemporary design which responds to the site’s prominent location alongside a main route into New Square and West Bromwich Town Centre.”

There would be parking for 58 cars, including four disabled spaces. Councillor Bawa Dhallu, who represents the West Bromwich Central ward, hailed the development. He said: “It will be a boost for the region as a whole because jobs will be created and it will bring more people to the town.”

The project is recommended for approval with conditions.
