West Bromwich strip club The Bing facing review after brawl
A strip club could be closed down following a brawl which left a man with serious head injuries.
Police have taken action over the Bing Gentlemen’s Club in West Bromwich town centre, with its bosses to be brought before a council licensing panel.
Officers said they had brought the review following ‘large-scale disorder’ at the club where they said there was a ‘lack of effective management’.
Licensing chiefs at Sandwell Council will now hear evidence surrounding the running of the venue, on the corner of High Street and Victoria Street, and could decide to revoke its licence.
If that happens, management would be forced to close the venue unless the decision was successfully appealed.
Other measures open to them include ordering security to be tightened.
A 27-year-old man was found injured outside Bing in the early hours of March 5 after violence erupted and was taken to hospital.
A doorman was also treated for minor head injuries following the fracas.
A large investigation was launched following the incident as officers scoured CCTV and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Police chiefs now feel they have enough intelligence to order a review of Bing's licence. The hearing is due to take place on Monday.
West Midlands Police said its application related to the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety and the protection of children from harm.
A report published ahead of the hearing said: "The application has been made following an incident of large-scale disorder.
"Following subsequent inquiries and dealings with the premises West Midlands Police is of the opinion that there is a lack of effective management."
West Bromwich councillor Bawa Dhallu said the violence outside the club was a worry.
He said: "I do have concerns as I don't want these things to happen.
"I want everybody to go in these places peacefully so it is a concern when something like this happens. It is now up to the licensing committee to decide what happens."
The club could not be contacted for comment.
