Around 2,300 supporters attended to watch an Albion All Stars XI – managed by Darren Moore – take on Boing FC, the team Richard was heavily involved with before his sudden death in December.

James Morrison and Chris Brunt were also in attendance at Halesowen Town where Big Dave's team for the day earned a 5-3 victory.

Earlier in the day mascots from across the country took part in their own unique and entertaining tribute to Richard, who died aged 42.

His best friend and fellow Baggies mascot Dave Challoner said: “I’d like to thank each and every supporter who attended the game on Sunday. It was a huge success thanks to them.

“The former players, who travelled from far and wide to be there, were also incredible.

“The family have been blown away by the support they have received from the club and I know I speak for everyone when I say we thank Albion from the bottom of our hearts.”

Money raised will go to Richard's young family and Edward’s Trust, a charity which offers a family bereavement service supporting children, young people and parents across the Midlands.
