Wednesbury flood: Woman rescued from home as crews battle up to 9ft torrent
A woman has been rescued from her home after a major flood in Wednesbury which has seen water rise to 9ft.
Up to 60 firefighters were in and around Leabrook Road North after the flood this morning.
It also led to the Black Country New Road being closed due to flood water.
The route could now be closed into the weekend.
West Midlands Fire Service confirmed specialist water rescue teams were sent to the road.
Houses and industrial units were also affected, according to the fire service.
Sheldon Fire Station wrote: "So far 17 cars searched by our water rescue teams and woman rescued from house.
"Water levels now at 3m (9.8ft) high in places. High volume pump at scene shortly to remove flood water."
Emergency services were called just after 10.39am after receiving 999 calls about a 'significant flooding incident'.

Area Commander Ben Brook of West Midlands Fire Service said: “We are working closely with the other emergency services and other agencies.
"A number of vehicles have been submerged, and some houses and industrial premises affected.
“The Black Country Route is currently closed and we would ask people to avoid the area until further notice.”
The flood is on Leabrook Road North, which branches off Leabrook Road near Black Country New Road and leads to Wednesbury Parkway car park - some of which is also under water.
Leabrook Road is cordoned off from Parkway Roundabout to the Steel Roundabout.
