Black Country New Road closed after cyclist injured in crash with car
A cyclist was injured after being hit by a car leading to the closure of a busy route between Wednesbury and Darlaston today.
Police shut the A41 Black Country New Road from the Patent Shaft island towards Moxley.
The crash happened on the A41 near the junction of Woden Road West at around 8am.
The cyclist suffered a head injury in the crash which ambulance service officials said had left the car with considerable damage.
The rider, a man in his 40s, was sedated at the scene as he had a 'reduced level of consciousness'.
He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Birmingham.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Murray MacGregor said the car driver was unhurt.
An ambulance, a paramedic officer, a senior paramedic officer and the MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic (CCP) were sent to the scene.
