M6 crash: Seven-mile delays after lorry crash near Wednesbury

Motorists are warned of long delays on the M6 in the Black Country and Staffordshire after two lorries crashed today.

Three lanes of the M6 southbound were closed between junction 10 for Walsall and Wolverhampton and junction 9 for Wednesbury.

The lorries crashed in the middle lane of the busy stretch for the motorway at around 4.20pm.

Three lanes of the motorway were blocked, said Highways England.

Emergency services were sent to the scene where a lorry had crashed into another lorry in front.

Lanes one and two were blocked, causing seven miles of delays for motorists back past junction 11 at Cannock. All lanes were open again by 8pm.

The smash came hours after five people were killed after a lorry and car crashed on the M6 near Stafford.
