Mohammed Nafees Ahmed, from Tipton, was jailed on Thursday for supporting a banned organisation after posting numerous anti-Semitic, violent and threatening comments on social media.

Ahmed was sentenced to 12 months for supporting a proscribed terrorist organisation after pleading guilty to the offences.

The sentence comes after Ahmed replied to posts from political figures in the UK and the US and also goaded the Metropolitan Police Service to arrest him during his posts.

Among the stream of offensive posts, Ahmed addressed Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer as the leader marked Chanukah on X, saying: "You Zionist, your time will come (knife icon).

He was arrested on March 20 and charged on September 16 with eight counts of supporting a proscribed terrorist organisation.

Speaking at the Old Bailey on Thursday, Judge Nigel Lickley KC said: "I am satisfied you had terrorist motivations.

"I am satisfied you knew Hamas was a proscribed organisation despite you saying you were not aware."

As well as the violent and threatening comments, Ahmed also showed support for Hamas and repeatedly glorified reports and videos of Israeli soldiers being killed.

Head of Counter Terrorism Policing in the West Midlands, Detective Chief Superintendent Alison Hurst, said: "We will not tolerate hate crime and violent and threatening comments or supporting and promoting an organisation that’s been banned by the UK government."
