A researcher is trying to trace relatives of a fallen soldier from Tipton as part of a project in Holland.

Private James Arthur Yates died on September 25, 1944, while serving with the 2nd Battalion of the Monmouthshire Regiment.

He was 27. The son of William Alfred Yates and Maud Yates, of Tipton, he left a widow, Sarah.

Now the Express & Star has been emailed by Raimondo Bogaars, who told us: "I am doing research for the foundation Erfgoed 40-45, gemeenten Valkenswaard en Waalre (that is, the wartime heritage of the municipalities of Valkenswaard and Waalre).

"Our foundation, collects, preserves and educates the history of World War Two in the vicinity of Valkenswaard en Aalst-Waalre, Holland.

"At the moment my research is focused on the soldiers who are buried in the war cemetery of Valkenswaard.

"I should be very grateful if you could help us trace relatives or help us with information about Private Yates."

Anyone who can help can contact Raimondo at r.bogaars@planet.nl on email.
