Man left fighting for life after being found seriously injured in alleyway

An investigation has been launched after a man was found with serious head injuries in an alleyway.

Fred Perry Walk, off Market Place, in Great Bridge, Tipton, which has been sealed off by police after an incident

The man, believed to be in his early 50s, was found by a passer-by late last night on Fred Perry Walk, in Great Bridge, Tipton.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

It is not known how the man received his injuries.

Police tape is blocking off the alley, situated off Market Place.

Police officers have been at the scene throughout the morning. They are now appealing for witnesses.

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said:

"We have cordoned off the area and are trying to establish how he came about his injuries. Anyone with information should contact us."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said:

"On arrival we discovered one male patient who was treated for serious injuries. He was then taken to hospital in a serious condition."
