The kitten is reported to have been thrown from the window of a car in Owen Street, Tipton, between 10am and 11.30am on Monday morning.

The cat, since named Dominic, was then collected by the Stray Cat Rescue Team West Midlands and rushed to White Cross Vets in Wolverhampton.

Dominic died while undergoing emergency surgery on his hip and leg.

The Stray Cat Rescue Team has now launched an appeal for information and said it will be reporting the incident to the RSPCA and West Midlands Police.

In a post on their Facebook page, they said: "You see this baby? We named him Dominic. He was 650 grams and eight-weeks-old. He got thrown from a car window this morning [Monday].

"He then went in for emergency surgery on his hip and leg, he crashed whilst on the table and he died.

"He crashed on the table, his heart stopped and the vets did everything they could to get him back but he was brain dead. He likely had internal injuries.

"If anyone witnessed this on Owen Street - Tipton this morning [Monday] between 10am and 11.30am, please message us. We will be reporting to the RSPCA and police very soon.

"Dominic, I am so, so, so sorry that humans let you down.

"Absolutely heartbroken.

"He even had a forever home lined up as one of the White Cross girls had fallen in love with him. I'm so sorry LJ. Thank you White Cross Vets, Rosie and Amy for all you tried.

"Please share to hopefully get Dominic some justice."
