The pedestrian was confirmed dead at the scene after paramedics were called just before 4pm yesterday.

Jamie Arrowsmith, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 3.48pm to reports of a collision between a train and a pedestrian at Tipton Railway Station.

"One ambulance, two paramedic officers and the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a man.

"Sadly it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene."

The line was closed for approximately three hours as a result yesterday.
