Artur Strzavkowski was hit while cycling on Park Lane East on December 18 shortly before 5pm.

He was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries but died on Sunday.

Mr Strzavkowski, from Tipton, was struck by a Nissan Qashqai inside the tunnel heading towards Lower Church Lane.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Paying tribute to the 39-year-old, his family described him as a ‘loving husband and father, a wonderful friend who left us far too early’.

Officers investigating the crash are still appealing for information.

Sgt Dean Caswell, from the serious collision investigation unit, said: "We want to thank everyone who has got in touch with us so far, however we need anyone else who witnessed the collision to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

"In particular, we want to hear from anyone with dashcam footage that may have captured the moments before or after the collision.

"I am still appealing to speak to the occupants of a car who exited the tunnel just before the collision as well as an Asian man who helped the cyclist at the scene and provided his jacket to the victim."

Anyone with information is urged to contact police via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am to midnight, or call 101 anytime. Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111. Quote log number 1798 of December 18.
