Tributes as Tipton man dies six weeks after being hit by motorbike on A461
Lee Flukes and his wife were both injured in the motorbike crash near Lidl on Horseley Heath.
The family of a man who died six weeks after he was hit by a motorbike have paid tribute to a "much-loved" father.
Lee Flukes died in the early hours of Saturday, six weeks after he and his wife were injured in a motorbike crash next to Lidl in Tipton.
Today his family released a statement, saying: “We are truly devastated to have lost Lee who was a much-loved husband, dad, son, brother, son-in-law and uncle.
"We respectfully request that we are given privacy to grieve at what is an extremely difficult time for the family.”
Mr Flukes, aged 40, was crossing the A461 Horseley Heath with his 39-year-old wife when they were hit by the bike at around 9.30pm on September 26.
Mr Flukes was left critically injured and taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, while his wife suffered injuries to her leg and the motorcyclist, a 28-year-old-man, fractured his shoulder.
The motorcyclist and Mr Flukes' wife have both since been discharged from hospital.
Nobody has been arrested over the crash, but collision investigators are continuing to appeal for anyone with information or video footage to come forward.
Horseley Heath was closed at its junction with Leech Street for several hours in the aftermath of the collision, which left debris scattered across the road.
Det Sgt Paul Hughes, from West Midlands Police, said: "Our thoughts are with Lee’s family at this terrible time and officers from our family liaison team will continue supporting those closest to him as they grieve.
“I am continuing to ask for anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t already spoken to us, or has dash-cam or CCTV which will assist our enquiries, to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
