Tipton Fire Station charity car wash raises £400
Firefighters and scouts from the Black Country have teamed up to hold a car wash for charity.
Firefighters from Tipton fire station, on Alexandra Road, and members from 1st Upper Gornal Scouts and Cubs group took part – raising £400.
Annabelle Amogu, aged eight, and firefighters Jonathan Pearson and Scott Morris were amongst those taking part.
The money raised will be split 50-50, with the scouts receiving £200 to help them replace old equipment.
Watch Commander Jonny Pearson, from Tipton fire station, said it was "brilliant" to help out.
He said: "It's part of a national thing the fire service has done. We do charity car washes across the country to raise money for local charities and for the Fire Fighters Charity.
"Generally, we split it 50-50 between the local charity and the Fire Fighters Charity.
"The scouts and cubs are raising money to replace old equipment, so we did a car wash to help.
"It's brilliant. We all know money talks and they need money to replace equipment. It's nice to be able to help out and it's so the kids are able to go out and do stuff.
"We did have a lot of people – somewhere in the region of 50 cars – so a decent turnout.
"We've raised about £400 and it's something we try and do at least annually."
The Fire Fighters Charity offers a range of health and wellbeing services for firefighters.
The event ran between 10am to 2pm on Sunday.
