Woman in critical condition after being hit by train in Smethwick
A woman has been left in a critical condition after being hit by a train in the Black Country.
Paramedics, a trauma doctor and officers from British Transport Police were called to the scene at Smethwick Galton Bridge station at around 8.40pm yesterday.
The woman, in her 40s, was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Crews arrived to find one patient, a woman, who had been hit by a train.
"She suffered serious injuries in the incident and received specialist trauma care before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in a critical condition.”
The incident is not being treated as suspicious, British Transport Police confirmed.
