The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene, near Rowley Regis railway station, Sandwell, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

British Transport Police [BTP] said it is not treating the boy's death as suspicious. Emergency services attended the railway station at 3.38pm on that day.

A BTP spokesman said on Monday that officers were working to inform the boy's next of kin.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, HART paramedics and two paramedic officers to the scene.
