Pedestrian taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by motorbike
A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a motorbike in Rowley Regis today.
Paramedics were called to Oldbury Road at about 6.40am to reports of a crash.
The pedestrian, a 26-year-old woman, was on the floor when paramedics arrived and was taken on blue lights to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a trauma doctor and critical care paramedic were sent to the scene.
The road was closed by police.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “When ambulance staff arrived, they quickly prioritised treatment to the pedestrian, a woman, who was on the floor and had sustained serious injuries.
"She received trauma care at the scene before being taken by ambulance on blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham; the MERIT doctor and critical care paramedic travelled in the ambulance with the woman to help continue treatment en route.
“The motorcyclist, a man, was assessed and found to have suffered relatively minor injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Sandwell Hospital for further checks.”
Sergeant Dean Caswell from West Midlands Police serious collision investigation unit, said: “We’re still in the process of piecing together what happened and urge anyone who saw the collision, and has not already spoken to officers, to get in contact."
